Citric Acid Anhydrous is a commonly used acidulant, naturally found in citrus fruits, but produced commercially by fermentation. It is commonly used in fruit products, beverages and desserts.

Citric Acid Anhydrous is a fine white powder and can be added either to products as powder or as a 50% solution. Please note that citric acid may form lumps during storage. This does not affect product quality or use.

Typical dose rates are 0.25% to 0.4% in fruit products and beverages, but his may vary according to the formulation.

For the purpose of this statement allergens are defined by the FSANZ Food Standards, in particular Standard 1.2.3 Mandatory warning and advisory statements and declarations, table to clause 4.

It defines allergens as Cereals containing gluten and their products, namely, wheat, rye, barley, oats and spelt and their hybridised strains other than where these substances are present in beer and spirits standardised, Crustacea (shellfish), Egg products, Fish products., Dairy products, Peanuts, Soybeans, Tree nuts, Sesame seeds and any added Sulphites in concentrations of 10 mg/kg or more.

Citric Acid anhydrous does not contain any known allergens as listed in Standard 1.2.3

ADM Citric Acid anhydrous is classified as GMO DNA Negative, does not contain any novel Protein or DNA, and therefore meets the labelling requirements of section 1.5.2.
