Acesulfame-K is a concentrated sweetener, 180-200 times sweeter than sucrose (table sugar), as sweet as aspartame, about half as sweet as saccharin, and has one-quarter the sweetness of sucralose. Acesulfame K is stable under heat, even under moderately acidic or basic conditions.

It is a free-flowing white powder, quickly and easily soluble in water.

5.0 Allergens

For the purpose of this statement allergens are defined by the FSANZ Food Standards, in particular Standard 1.2.3 Mandatory warning and advisory statements and declarations, table to clause 4.

It defines allergens as Cereals containing gluten and their products, namely, wheat, rye, barley, oats and spelt and their hybridised strains other than where these substances are present in beer and spirits standardised, Crustacea (shellfish), Egg products, Fish products., Dairy products, Peanuts, Soybeans, Tree nuts, Sesame seeds and any added Sulphites in concentrations of 10 mg/kg or more.

Acesulfame-K does not contain any known allergens as listed in Standard 1.2.3


6.0 Halal and Kosher Status

Acesulfame-K is not Halal or Kosher certified. However, a certificate attesting to absence of meat products and of alcohol, and of appropriate manufacturing processes.


7.0 GM Status

For the purpose of this statement GM status is defined by the FSANZ Food Standards, in particular Standard 1.5.2 “Food produced using Gene Technology”

Acesulfame-K is classified as GMO DNA Negative and does not contain any novel Protein or DNA.
